The Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games are here and Olympic fever is taking over!
Whether you’ve been following the athletes all season or are just discovering a new sport, its a great time to support team Canada and all the incredible athletes representing our beautiful country!
These athletes do the unimaginable, pushing their bodies to the limit to put on an incredible show. Whether their debuting an unthinkable trick or executing an unbelievable upset in a medal game.
If you’re like anything like me and become absolutely obsessed with the games, sports and athletes taking over our screen. You’ll definitely want to do a deep dive into some of the amazing documents series staring Canadian athletes on their journey to the games!
These incredible athletes deserve far more then just two weeks in the sport light! They deserve to be celebrated every day! Here are some of my favourite docu-series following some (of my favourite) Canadian athletes!
McMorris and McMorris

McMorris and McMorris was a one season reality styled series following Canadian snowboarding brothers Mark and Craig McMorris before they became icons of the sport.
The series was created in 2013 for MTV and consisted of 8 episodes and is now available for streaming on Redbull.com! And needless to say the series is VERY MTV coded, showcasing the wild adolescent side of the brothers.
The series shifted from the typical docu-series blueprint that showcase training, competing and reflection of the athletes accomplishments. McMorris and McMorris chose to showcase the brothers as more personable and relatable, showing the brothers as typical young boys who enjoy a good party. While the series shows the party side of the brothers, it also showcases the grit and determination the brothers have as high performance athletes.
I enjoyed seeing the brothers in a more natural and authentic way. Where we can see their real personalities free of filter and media training.
In case you couldn’t tell I am a huge McMorris fan and had a hard time choosing just one of his productions, so here are some honourable mentions you should also check out!
Honourable Mentions:

Tessa & Scott
Tessa and Scott is a 7-part documentary series that aired in 2014 on the The W Network and followed the beloved Canadian ice-dance team of Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir as they prepared for the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
The series provided fans with inside look into what it takes to be an Olympic champion. Showing the pair as the prepared for and competed in competition season leadings up to the 2014 Olympic games.
Providing a glimpse into the highs, lows and sacrifices Tessa and Scott faced during their career. Exploring their journey from overcoming injuries and losses to pushing themselves to prepare for the games.
Overall, I really enjoyed how the series provided fans a personal look into their favourite ice dancers. We were able to see who Tessa and Scott were off the ice, which inevitably made me love them even more!
Glitter & Gold
Glitter & Gold is Netflix’s 3-part docu-series following the top three ice dance teams as they prepare for the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games. Staring the top American team of Madison Chock and Evan Bates, French team Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron and Canada’s top team of Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier.
The series sets up the epic battle for the podium that is about to play out in Milano Cortina. With each episode highlight each team and their efforts and obstacles they faced to get to the games.
Showcasing the resilience and strengthen of Canadian Piper Gilles. Fighting through losing her Mother to cancer and her own battle against ovarian cancer all well staying driven to make it the 2026 games.
I loved the series! Seeing how the “rivalries” were created and just how connected the competitive world of ice dance is was extremely interesting! While the authentic look into Piper and Paul made me fall even more in love with them, and truly I can’t think of a more deserving team to win the gold medal!
I cannot wait to cheer them on and you should to! You can catch them in the team event skating in the rhythm dance event, Friday February 6th at 3:55 am EST and Saturday February 7 in the free dance at 4:05 pm EST. You can also catch them in the ice dance competition Monday February 9th in the rhythm dance event at 12:30 pm EST and the free dance on Wednesday February 11 at 1 pm EST.
